The late Haris Ibrahim

Admitted to the Malaysian Bar in August 1990, Haris began his legal career with Messrs. Adam & Co., a leading litigation firm, where he rose to become partner in charge of litigation from 1994 to 1998.

In 1999, he ventured into practice on his own resulting in the establishment of the firm known as Haris & Co. Specialising in defamation law and administrative law, Haris routinely appeared before all levels of the courts and was often engaged as counsel in appellate matters. He earned a reputation as a fearless advocate, advancing his clients’ causes with integrity and conviction.

Beyond the courtroom, Haris was a prominent socio-political activist and blogger, passionately championing social inclusion and justice. He stepped away from legal practice in 2010 to dedicate himself fully to these causes, before returning to active practice years later as Senior Partner at Haris Ibrahim Kandiah Partnership.

Haris’s career was marked by unwavering principles, exceptional advocacy, and a deep commitment to fairness. His passing on 5 August 2023 was a profound loss to the profession and to all who knew him. His values and contributions will remain an enduring part of our Firm’s legacy.
